
Biography
Rong-jian ZHAN is a jointly trained postdoctoral researcher from the Department of Otolaryngology at The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University. He completed the university's eight-year Clinical Medicine program with a focus on otolaryngology and joined FengGao Lab in 2026. Since July 2026, he has conducted postdoctoral research in sleep medicine. His work focuses on obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome, chronic rhinosinusitis, and allergic rhinitis. His earlier research training covered chronic nasal mucosal inflammation and environmental factors, optogenetic tool development, parasite metabolomics, clinical study design, and data analysis. He has published first- or co-first-author studies in pediatric airway surgery, nasal epithelial barrier injury, cardiovascular risk stratification, and medical parasitology. His undergraduate research received both the Gold Award and Best Academic Award at the National Undergraduate Basic Medical Innovation Research and Experimental Design Forum.
